Youth Mental Health First Aid

Adolescence is a time of important change and development. It is also a time when mental health challenges tend to emerge.

 

The Youth Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults how to provide initial support to young people who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis. The course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, Youth MHFA teaches participants how to support an adolescent until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

 

Youth MHFA will teach you how to provide mental health first aid for:

Course participants receive a hard copy of the Youth MHFA Manual to keep and a Certificate of Completion.

With a focus on improved mental health literacy and early intervention, Youth MHFA is for adults who wish to support a young person in distress and may include:

The Training Format

Blended Youth Mental Health First Aid is delivered in two separate components: 

 

Component 1: Self-paced e-learning modules (approx. 4 hours).

 

Component 2: Three 2.5-hour live zoom sessions. (Total 7.5 hours of live interactive learning).

OR

One live in-person session (7.5 hours).

 

As per MHFA Australia guidelines, component 1 MUST be completed before you can attend the live zoom or in-person sessions. 

 

Personalised training dates and times can be arranged for private groups.
